Ujian Kelayakkan Tali Pinggang Mendapat Sambutan Sederhana

Ho Kam Phaw? Raja Taharudin Raja Nong Chik? Saya sendiri kurang pasti dengan keadaan MTA sekarang kerana masih berlaku pergolakan dalaman yang belum selesai.

Sila rujuk petikan artikel yang dipetik dari NST & The Star.

MTA wants clubs as members before April
NST Online : 20 November 2008
By DEVINDER SINGH

THE Malaysian Taekwondo Association (MTA) hopes to include clubs among its members by no later than next April.
Talks on amending the MTA constitution to unite with the Malaysia Taekwondo Clubs Association (MTCA) and the Malaysia Taekwondo Federation (MTF) began on Nov 12 with the next meeting set for today. The Sports Commissioner’s Office is chairing the meetings.
MTA chairman Rosli Ismail said talks with MTCA and MTF are expected to continue until December before an agreement on the amended constitution can be reached by all parties.
“The Sports Commissioner’s Office convened a working committee comprising representatives of MTA, MTCA and MTF and the first meeting was held on Nov 12.
“The objectives of the committee include amending the constitution as per the ‘Akujanji’ given by MTA to the Sports Minister, obtain contributions from the representatives on the proposed amendments and unify the existing bodies into one unified MTA body,” said Rosli during a press conference at Balai Berita yesterday.Once the amended constitution is ready, MTA will call for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to ratify the changes.
“The EGM must be held by February the latest as the next biennial general council (BGC) is scheduled for no later than April 30, 2009 for a new two-year term. Two months notice must be given for the BGC,” said Rosli.
MTA president Ho Kam Phaw said they remain the legitimate office bearers of MTA after their mandate was returned by the Sports Commissioner Datuk Nik Mahmud NIk Yusof in August.
“Contrary to what has been reported recently, we want to assure the public that we are still the legitimate office bearers of MTA as per the Sports Commissioner’s letter. There has been some confusion about that recently and we have not been informed of any changes by any party,” he added.

THE recent Malaysian Closed Taekwondo Championships, held at the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Indoor Sports Arena, served as a selection base to identify new talents.
The event was also well received by spectators, who enthusiastically cheered the participants during the exciting decisive bouts that kept them on edge. Their rousing applause and roaring vocal support complemented the exponents' forceful exploits as they vied for supremacy on the competition arena.
Malaysian Taekwondo Association (MTA) president Raja Taharudin Raja Nong Chik said the spectators were excited at watching the keenly contested battles in the senior categories.
”The participants tried very hard to make an impact. We are delighted with their effort to strive for improvement.
“Our technical officials were making their rounds to identify exponents with good physique and height. They do not have to be winners in their respective categories; our aim is to identify young exponents and groom them for the next SEA Games in Laos in 2009,” said Raja Taharudin.
In the last SEA Games in Korat, Thailand, Malaysia won two gold medals through Elaine Teo and Che Chew Chan. Both Teo and Che have qualified for the Beijing Olympics.
Raja Taharudin said they were looking forward to doubling the golden haul in Laos.
“The Closed championships will be the first step towards realising our target in Laos. We have plans to initiate more competitions this year. We want our exponents to maintain their competitive condition and be ready to shoulder the challenge in international events. Besides the sparring events, we are also emphasising on the pattern events,” added Raja Taha-rudin.
The two-day meet drew 500 competitors, including 300 junior exponents. On the opening day, youngsters aged from 14 to 17 years took part in the 10 weight categories each for the boys' and girls' sections.
MTA vice-president Mislan Anuar said they were pleased with the overwhelming turnout.
“Despite the short notice, taekwondo enthusiasts showed their commitment to competing and gauging their progress against other exponents. The tournament was also an opportunity for the exponents to gain exposure as part of their preparation for the upcoming Malaysia Games (Sukma),” he added.
National coaches R. Dhanaraj and Moi Chee Keong followed the proceedings of the competition closely to identify promising exponents.
Moi said it was important to create healthy competition among the junior contenders to broaden the selection base.
“We have shortlisted several hopefuls. We will conduct the elimination process again to rope the best into our 2010 Project,” he added.
In the men's middleweight category, Ismail Othman of Malay-sian Armed Forces (ATM) gave his supporters reason to cheer when he prevailed against Fong Kin Leong of Kuala Lumpur in one of the interesting final encounters.
The 32-year-old army officer, based in Setapak, said he was fired up and went all the way to capture the title for his team.
“I have been involved in the art for the past 10 years. I am happy to have bagged my first title in the competition. I had trained for the past two weeks as a build-up to the tournament. But, I felt fatigue in the final because I was not in top shape physically,” Ismail added.
